Woodwork Courses

GENERAL INFORMATION

A variety of woodwork courses offering diversity in approach and subject content will inspire all comers whatever your skill level.  The woodwork courses act as core modules, helping participants to progress to other custom courses such as instrument making.

Beginners  will explore an understanding of wood, gain an introduction to hand tools and their management, while engaging in a small and manageable project which will yield rewards.

Intermediate participants will require a basic experience . An introduction to basic design will move to the development of a manageable project. This course also aims to cover an introduction to wax finishing.

Advanced participants will require a level of competence to confidently approach the proposed project.  Personal tools are required.  Design development and construction solutions will be followed by sustainable progression of the agreed piece to satisfactory conclusion.

Custom Courses covering specific details such as bending wood, veneering, French polish , instrument making and other advanced topics will also be given.

Maximum  attendance on any workshop course is restricted to 8 persons.

Did you ever wonder how roof beams are laminated or curved? Or how to create curved rails for chairs or doors? Or ever wondered how to bend wood or which wood is better for the job than others?

In our Meeting Room venue, shown above, such topics can be explored and discussed.

Invited guest lecturers and experts in their specific field will deliver to the point information and demonstrations on the relevant subjects. Custom courses are delivered either in the practical studio, the meeting venue or both.
The meeting room can accommodates up to 12 people and presents a relaxed atmosphere with both woodland and panoramic views.  Complimentary lunch is served in the meeting room and is the ideal venue for lively discussion on the proceedings.
